“If you want to sell, sell. If you want to write, write. Whatever it is that you want to do, just do it.” That is what my dad, George Freeman always told me growing up. He inspired me to follow my dreams and to always be part of the solution, not part of the problem. He always told me that if I came to him with a complaint that I had to have a possible solution ready or don’t bother coming to him. He also told me that he would never be mad at me for making mistakes at work as long as I had tried my best and I learned something from my mistake. He said that in life you will always make mistakes, but it’s important not to make the same mistake twice.
Inola Castings was not the first business that George Freeman started, but it turned out to be the one that accomplished his goal of creating a legacy for his family. Sharon Goode was the angel with the belief in him and his vision along with the finances to help him establish the business that he’d always wanted to create.
When the idea for Inola Castings was formed by my dad, he knew that he wanted to start this new venture with my brother beside him. He took the proposal to David when he was in his junior year of college at Northeastern State University and asked him to start working the next year after he graduated. He wanted to teach his son this business and work along side him.
Thinking about what I wanted to say to commemorate the 30 year Anniversary of Inola Castings has brought back a lot of memories for me. There are so many directions that I could have taken with this blog post. As I pondered all of the various thoughts, I kept coming back to one thing. My dad would be so proud of my brother, David Freeman for keeping his dream alive. Though George Freeman founded the company 30 years ago, now David Freeman has firmly taken the reins and is now teaching his daughter, Jourdan Freeman who is working along side him the way he once worked along side his dad.
In the last 3 months since the pandemic started, David and Jourdan have been creating new product lines and adding to their capabilities.
